Geometry Preparation with GridTool
GridTool can be used to prepare non-manifold geometry representations for use in GridEx. Examples of non-maifold geometry representations include IGES and PLOT3D.
A native geometry file can be generated using GridTool with the
-felisa command line option. This option slightly changes the
layout of the GridTool GUI and adds options for saving the geometry
model as a FELISA dat file. There are two versions of the FELISA
dat files supported by GridTool. GridEx only
supports the new version.
To create a FELISA dat file, define patches for the model in
GridTool
as usual and associate each non-planar patch with exactly one surface.
Patches can be n-sided and have multiple loops. Save the FELISA
dat (new version) file. Load the FELISA dat file into
"GridEx native" as a part file and proceed as normal.
NOTE: FELISA native geometry models cannot be combined with
solid primitives
in GridEx. Therefore, the entire final domain must be constructed
in GridTool and saved to the FELISA dat file.
